The reason why every American should be upset about the Swift Boat ads

Joe Klein wrote an excellent article in this week's Time Magazine (reprinted on CNN). The national discussion has shifted to a war that is over 30 years old instead of the real problems of today that deserve an honest discussion.

Conservatives for Kerry? Here's Your Man.

An interesting Washington Post article about why conservatives should dislike Bush as much as us liberal democrats.

Why are there people still considering Bush for president??

1.3 million more Americans are living in poverty, 1.4 million fewer Americans have health insurance....and yet half of this country still wants to vote for Bush. What is wrong with you people? Why aren't these issues being talked about...instead we are wasting all our time talking about a war that ended 30 years ago. This whole thing just makes me want to say AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!

Away from my blog

I forgot to say ahead of time, but I am on a short break from my blogs. My wife had a conference to attend in St. Paul, MN----so I decided to tag along and visit old college friends. Its been a great visit so far--I've seen my friends Kris (and her husband Brian and their cute baby Ruby), Starla (and her husband Lon and their funny and adorable kids--Shaela, Cassidy, and Maverick---I hope I got the spelling right on all of those). I just finished having lunch with one of my college professors, Eric and touring my old college, The University of Minnesota-Morris. I have about 30 minutes to kill before my college roommate, Tom, shows up---so I thought I would give you all a brief run down of my last few days.

Friday
Drove Columbus to Bloomington, Illinois----we left far too late

Saturday
Drove Bloomington, Illinois to La Crosse, Wisconsin (via Dubuque, Iowa)
We visited Margaret's high school friend, Chris, and got to visit the campus of UW-Platteville where he coaches soccer. Saturday night we met my parents at their houseboat.

Well I'm out of time...I will add more when I return to Columbus. Should have lots of interesting tales to share because my niece, Maggie is coming to spend the next week with us.

Toodles to all,
Peace Out

The Gospel According to Larry by Janet Tashjian

This is from my other blog booksforkids.blogspot.com, but I thought it might be of interest to others also.

This book completely sucked me in, unlike any book that I have read in a long time. Yes, at points it seemed very far-fetched. But even with it being far-fetched you wanted it to be real. Janet Tashjian drew me in with her characters that I truly wanted to know more about. Larry is so fantastically idealistic and flawed at the same time that one can't help but love him. He is idealistic in only a way that a teen can be.

This is how good the book was...I started reading the Gospel According to Larry on Friday night and by Sunday morning I had finished it, and its sequel Vote for Larry. It has been quite a while since I've consumed books like this.

This is definitely a book that will raise consciousnesss and discussions. I can't wait to see the next book in the trilogy.

Definitely check out "Larry's" website to find out more.

Bush in favor of rich people cheating on taxes

This story better make the national news tonight! It is always good when Bush opens his mouth because you know something funny is bound to come out if he talks long enough.

In Hard-Hit Ohio, Bush Says the U.S. Economy Is on the Mend

"To keep American jobs in America, regulation needs to be fair and reasonable,' Mr. Bush said. 'To keep American jobs in America, we must end the junk and frivolous lawsuits that threaten employers all across the country. To keep American jobs in America, we will not overspend your money, and we will keep your taxes low."

"We will not overspend your money." I can't believe that Bush actually said this. Why does he and his Republican Congress keep running budget deficits if he isn't overspending our money?? Kerry needs to call him out on this one. Actually every single one of us Americans need to call him out on this flat out lie!
